Mehboob elahi : The 1971 war spy |
Mehboob elahi was sent to army to bangladesh in the year 1968, his duty was to then go to pakistan and enter the pakistani army, as a person from east pakistan ( now bangladesh), as the war was coming.
mehboob was successful in doing so and got recruited in the engineering department, of pakistani army, two months before 1971 war.
He started doing his job of transferring information to india, he came under ISI radar but escaped back to india before they could nab him.
But he was sent back to pakistan get few more papers, after 2 months in kolkata.
But this time he was caught due to a double agent working for pakistan named " kashmiri lal sharma".
He was captured and tortured by the pakistani army alongwith other 4 spies of indian army for 20 years, He was released in the year 1996 along with 4 other spies and a lady spy of india.
He says many of his comrades of 1971 war died in prison and many went mad due to the torture given. He says the higher officials knew about it but did nothing
Today he is even not given pension. Do you think government should change its attitude towards spies working for the nation??
Both India and pakistan refuse to recognize their spies once they are caught |
